Western Cape · Regional wine route
Wine has been made in Constantia since the late 1600s, which makes it the birthplace of South Africa’s wine industry. Today the Constantia Wine Route winds through leafy suburbs and mountain slopes, only about 20 minutes from central Cape Town.
Cool breezes from False Bay and the mountain’s shadow create ideal conditions for elegant Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. In addition, the valley is famous for its legendary sweet wine, once enjoyed by European royalty and Napoleon himself.
