Plettenberg Bay, known locally as Plett, is named after Joachim van Plettenberg, the Dutch governor of the Cape who visited in 1778. It sits on the Garden Route, between the Tsitsikamma mountains and the Indian Ocean.
The wine story here is young. Farmers began planting vineyards in the hills above the town in recent decades, and the cool coastal climate suits a number of styles.
Forest, lagoons and beaches all within reach.
Marine life is a big part of Plett.
Vineyards are a recent addition.

Robberg Nature Reserve, just outside town, is a rocky peninsula with walking trails and seals.
