Discover the Paarl Wine Route

Paarl takes its name from the great granite domes that glisten like pearls after rain. Spread out below them, the Paarl Wine Route offers a diverse mix of grand estates, family farms and modern tasting rooms.

Warm summers along the Berg River valley are ideal for full-bodied reds. As a result, Paarl is known for generous Shiraz, Pinotage and red blends, along with rich Chenin Blanc. There is also a strong brandy tradition in the area.

Why visit

  • Bold Shiraz, Pinotage and red blends with plenty of flavour
  • A wide choice of family-friendly farms and activities
  • Historic Main Street and the Afrikaans Language Monument
  • Easy access from Cape Town via the N1
