Western Cape · Wine subroute
Berg means mountain, and this subroute lives up to its name. The Stellenbosch Berg area covers the mountainous slopes close to town, with vineyards set against steep peaks and green valleys.
Higher altitudes and cooler temperatures help the grapes ripen slowly. Consequently, the wines are known for their elegance and freshness. Look out for fine Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and red blends, along with vibrant Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
