Discover the Tulbagh Wine Route

Tulbagh is a quiet, picture-perfect valley surrounded by mountains on three sides. At its centre, Church Street boasts one of South Africa’s most complete collections of historic Cape Dutch buildings.

Warm days, cold nights and mountain soils give Tulbagh a versatile climate. As a result, the valley produces fine Cap Classique and generous Shiraz, as well as Chenin Blanc and red blends. Snow on the surrounding peaks makes winter visits especially beautiful.

Why visit

  • Sparkling Cap Classique and generous Shiraz
  • Historic Church Street and its Cape Dutch heritage
  • Dramatic mountain scenery in every direction
  • A peaceful pace far from the busier winelands
